Sonorité Jaune, La

Initially a solo project set up by Z/k (also active in obscure acts such as SM SOPHIE, SM MARINE, UNITE M.S.T.), Orange Princess (former singer of DENIER DU CULTE, another cult act from Annecy, France) joined in 1985. LA SONORITE JAUNE held his name from a serie of paintings by Kandinsky. Based on the links between sounds and colors, the multicoloured soundscapes developped by the band, consisting in delayed concrete sounds, voices, guitar tones and loops, quickly spread around the international underground scene, with a number of albums that got released either on their own label SJ ORGANISATION or .. friends inprints such as COMPLACENCY, LADD FRITH, WE NEVER SLEEP or SOUND OF PIG MUSIC. Calling themselves HELIAE, ANASTIA, ISTANIA or ERSATIA, they were all part of what Z/K refered to "La Poetique Espace". But that's another story. Amongst the abovementionned albums also came a collaboration with THE HATERS titled "The interstellar destroyed music mail project" , with SYNFONIEN PRODUCTS 'Soundtracks for Breathing Structures" (released on Ladd-Frith in the US) and a split lp with fellow LT CARAMEL titled 'Je ne veux plus voir le ciel".

LA SONORITE JAUNE is also featured on many international compilations, most of them quite hard to find today. The duo happened to turn into a quatuor at some point. Ruelgo from LE SYNDICAT and a lovely violin player were talently fulfilling the live sound of the band. Emmanuel and Aline also joined as VJ's (although no one used this word at that time). LSJ played in front of an audience 5 times: in Paris (x2), Munich, Bourges and Milan. There are no video archives available anywhere (as far as i know - if anybody got any, please get in touch).
